Jefferson Missouri Sports

The playoffs are here, and for the first time, these two historic programs will be on the big screen. The two sides met once in the late 1990s at a ballpark, but this time in a stadium bearing the former Jefferson City coach's name. It will be the 78th other program the Lakers have gone through in their history, as well as their first meeting with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Lakers were stopped in the regular season by a strong Bulldogs defense that threw for just 170 yards on the entire offensive line. The Lakers will try to correct course against a Jefferson City defense that has allowed 22.3 points per game.

Camdenton had some trouble getting going against Rolla last week, but her rush attack continues to be led by senior running back Jadin Faulconer, who has rushed for more than 1,000 yards and four touchdowns this season. Cameron is currently averaging more than 300 rushing yards per game, which has led to the Lakers averaging 27.8 points per week on the scoreboard. Senior Jaden Faul Conner was reliable on offense, while senior Eli Griffin recorded 29 catches for 267 yards and a touchdown. Last week, Faulkner stayed calm, rushing for 52 yards and catching two touchdown passes from quarterback Ryan O'Neill.

Senior Marshaun Dye caught 11 passes for 136 yards and a score, and Pendleton has caught seven catches for 69 yards this season. Brooks' top option at receiver is White, who has rushed for 104 of his 569 yards this season. He has completed six games with over 100 receiving yards this season and will certainly draw some focus from Jefferson City's running back. Overall, Shore expects a team with plenty of pace and explosiveness on both sides of the ball. It will be a fun game but don't take anything for granted on Friday night. Look at the guys who are playing because it's a football game and the guys are just looking forward to playing.

Jefferson City is centrally located on the state and national map and is a convenient destination for athletes and fans. Due to the increasing popularity of sports in the city, several events have their roots in Jefferson City, including the annual Prison Break Race, which revolves around the infamous, disused Missouri State Penitentiary and the St. Louis County Fair. It also hosts a variety of other sporting events, including the State Fair of Missouri, the Missouri High School Athletics Association's annual football game and many other events. Although there are times when a sporting event can take up your time, I encourage you to take a break and visit some of the enticing shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and other attractions Jefferson City has to offer.

Arkansas linebacker Bumper Pool was disappointed that the defense secured the win in the final minutes of the game. Woods stepped in to make the catch, giving the Razorbacks a 48-47 lead, but it bounced off the hands of Missouri linebacker Jamal Brooks.

Jefferson City has depth in the rush attack, but Bethune, as the nation's leading pitcher, poses a big threat both on the pass play and on the ground.

In his second career start, Jefferson led the Razorbacks' offense to a 21-14 victory over Arkansas State on Saturday night at Razorback Stadium.
